OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

MCG Records Inks Pact With Malaco Music Group; Poised To Be "The Ambassadors of Traditional Gospel."

MCG Records, one of the world's leading independent traditional gospel record labels, and longtime gospel and R&B powerhouse Malaco Music Group, have announced the signing of an exclusive distribution deal that will make MCG a vital part of the Malaco Music Group, and carry its formidable roster of hit artists far and wide across America.

The Malaco Music Group includes Savoy Records, Malaco Records, Muscle Shoals Sound Gospel Records, Juana Records, Marxan Records, Blackberry Records, and MCG Records, now joining forces to form one of gospel's most formidable partnerships, with both the creative and marketing muscle to move traditional gospel back to the forefront of the music industry.

The heads of these labels-Rev. Milton Biggham of Savoy, Frederick Knight of Juana, Mark Ballard of Marxan, Tommy Couch, Sr. of Malaco, Doug Williams of Blackberry, and MCG's James Bullard (plus other key individuals, among them Malaco's D.A. Johnson, Tommy Couch Jr. and Jerry Mannery Malaco's Gospel Music Director, as well as Louise Bullard-Garrett of MCG) met at the first Malaco Music Group Summit on April 8, 2003, focusing on "moving forward in unity and strength."

Bullard believes that this group has been called to move traditional gospel music to its rightful place in the music industry, honoring genre pioneers, as well as finding and breaking new acts to leave a legacy for generations to come.

"This is a truly strong coalition," says MCG president and CEO Bullard. "All I can say is, `Move over industry because this runaway train is coming through.' Malaco understands how to maximize this market and has a great history in it. They've been involved in gospel for many, many years and have tremendous respect for it."

That admiration is returned by Stewart Madison, Malaco's director of business affairs. "The Malaco Music Group has great respect for MCG and James Bullard because we well know what he has done, and still does, in and for this industry, and we believe the power and reach of our distribution system will give them the added strength as they move forward. James Bullard is a recognized industry leader with over 40 years of expertise to his credit, and MCG Records-with a roster that features Lee Williams & the Spiritual QC's, Slim & the Supreme Angels, and G4-is a driving force among independent gospel labels. Malaco is delighted to be associated with MCG, and James Bullard, and we're looking forward to great things."

Bullard also confirmed that MCG's current vice president of A&R, renowned industry veteran Jerry Peters, will be continuing in that position. Two of MCG's major acts have new releases due out by the end of May: quartet sensation Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC's' Right On Time, and the venerable but always vital Slim & the Supreme Angels' Have You Heard The News? Releasing in the third quarter will be G4's Ready Or Not.

Bullard, over the past four decades, having almost single-handedly built the gospel artist rosters at both Word Records and Intersound Music-with legendary artists the likes of Shirley Caesar, Al Green, and countless others-is in a singular position to take an overview of the gospel industry today, and to elaborate on his plans for MCG's place in that picture. "I believe MCG can be the spark to grow the traditional gospel industry-and all the artists who for years have made this genre their home, ministry and career-to a level of respect that it has never had before," he says. "In imaging, packaging, and product quality, we are poised to receive the same credibility and industry involvement as the urban/gospel market. This is the opportunity to bring traditional gospel center stage, and Malaco has the means and enthusiasm to support that vision more strongly than any other system I've been involved with.

"I believe, with this new collaboration with the Malaco Music Group, we are on track to becoming the industry leaders and inspiration for those who are already involved in traditional gospel music, and those who are yet to become involved. We want to be the ambassadors of traditional gospel."
